ECOSOC and the PBC will hold an informal joint event on "Promoting durable peace and sustainable development in the Sudan and South Sudan" on Monday, 13 June 2011, from 3 to 6pm in the ECOSOC Chamber (NLB).  Following the opening remarks by the President of the Council, H.E. Mr. Lazarous Kapambwe (Zambia), and the Chair of the Peacebuilding Commission, H.E. Mr.

The election of seven members to the Organizational Committee of the Peacebuilding Commission will take place on Wednesday, 15 December 2010.  

The Executive Board of UNICEF will hold an informal consultation on UNICEF's contribution to peacebuilding on Monday, 1 November 2010.

This meeting report by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) outlines the discussions had and presentations made during the joint meeting of the ECOSOC and the Peacebuilding Commission. Generally, the meeting concentrated on finding parallels and overlap between efforts to acheive the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and peacebuilding.
